By train from the North, Volterra is reached along the Genoa-Pisa line direction Rome. Exit is at ‘Pisa Centro’ where there is taxi or bus service to Volterra. It is also possible to take the Pisa-Florence or Bologna-Florence train lines and exit at Pontedera from where there is also both taxi and bus service to Volterra.
By train from the South, Volterra is reached via the Rome-Florence train line direction Florence. There is a bus service from ‘Firenze S.M.N.’ to Volterra. Also, there is a train line along the coast from Rome-Genoa (direction Genoa) which can be exited at Cecina in order to take a shorter bus or taxi transfer to Volterra.
